CTU Quad & Combi BOP
The CTU Quad BOP and CTU Combi BOP are core wellhead pressure control devices specifically designed for coiled tubing operations (CTU, Coiled Tubing Unit). Engineered to address the operational characteristics of coiled tubing (jointless, flexible strings) such as dynamic sealing and multi-condition switching, they balance "sealing reliability" and "operational adaptability." These devices are critical to safety in coiled tubing drilling, workover, acidizing, fracturing, and other operations.
The quad-ram BOP is connected below the stripper assembly and serves to control wellbore pressure. Designed specifically for continuous tubing operations, this BOP incorporates four ram sets, each with distinct functions:
Ram Configuration:
Blind Rams: Seals the wellbore completely when no tubing is present (typically after shear/separation operations)
Shear Rams: Emergency cutting of continuous tubing, features precise cut profile specifications to facilitate tubing removal, designed for cutting only (non-sealing function)
Slip Rams: Utilizes slip mechanisms to suspend tubing, prevents tubing drop during operational pauses or post-shear scenarios.
Pipe Rams: Provides sealing for continuous tubing of various diameters.
